MAGUIRE is a deep man in that he has seen a lot of life in a way not many academics have seen it - on the battlefields of Vietnam. He has recently lost his wife, his soulmate and best friend. He is associates with specialist academics, one of which asks him to see HUNTING as part of the latters' rehab program borne from assault charges at Court. HUNTING is a mathematical genius, however life experiences (although sounding good) are lacking with this boy/young man. He shrouds weakness with smart talk and intellect with which he plays people except MAGUIRE, and a love interest. MAGUIRE is an unhappy man and challenged in some way by HUNTING although he would never let him know this of course. He is not challenged by HUNTING's smart non worldly wide mouth but by his eventual infallability. This is a non condascending and meaningful comfort to MAGUIRE.
