The fifth season tells of strong and different events during this dramatic and comedy series. The season opens with Jimmy trying to prove that, although he is about to become a married man, he has not lost his ability. On the other hand, it seems that Edgar and Lindsay are trying to go on a real date, which may be a development in the new relationship.
It's scathingly funny, but also acutely sad. Though the show is mostly rooting for Jimmy and Gretchen to get over themselves and make it work, it also doesn't run from the idea that neither can be their best so long as they're with the other.
