Westworld - Season 2, Episode 01: Journey Into Night
Trailer
After stopping for a period of time, the second season of the great drama Of Westworld comes again. The second season begins with Hale tries to finish her serious mission. Lee runs into Maeve. And things get worse when the hosts decided to revolt against the guests.
These violent delights really do have have violent ends. Which are also, this being the season premiere, violent beginnings. Not just violent, either: sadistic.
So here we are, intrigued by what the heck is happening and is going to happen to Bernard, and how that Park Six tiger ended up by the lake, and what lies beyond this island Westworld apparently inhabits.
Performance-wise, there were some incredible moments here: Getting to see Evan Rachel Wood shift personalities between the rancher's daughter and Wyatt was just incredible.
It will take a while to remember who was revealed to be a robot and who wasn't... But it's worth keeping watching for performances from Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton and Jeffrey Wright.
For a show as orderly and worked-out as "Westworld," the "Now what?" feeling that pervades the Season 2 premiere feels invigorating, as if the show itself had wriggled free of its own narrative patterns.
