From a secret relationship with a popular guy, to being undermined by a mean girl, and parents who just don't get it-Jenna's misfortune will eventually serve as the catalyst for amazing change, awkward is an interesting comedy series that explore the life of a 15 year old.
Perhaps the most aptly-titled show on television. Everything Jenna Hamilton goes through fits that word and I can't help laughing and feeling second hand embarrassment right along with her.
[It's] built upon the same tropes as the Nick and Disney tweencoms, but with sex sliced in, and Jenna's dilemma and dreams are as old as Cinderella's. So it's no surprise this story is being told again - and for the most part, it's told pretty well.
Awkward's superb writing enables sharp character development, revealing layer after layer of each personality and giving viewers a glimpse of the complicated dynamics that exist within this peer group.
