Seeing a strange man, that he thinks that he is his father, Finn, a young teenager boy who befriends an old wise dog, Jake, who has a magical power, the thing that leads him to make many adventures, struggles against following that person, to make sure that he is his father, so they begin a new adventure.
By any standard of inventiveness, intelligence, imagination, ambition, care, fearlessness, boldness, openness, humor, poetry and love I'd care to live my life by, it is as good as anything on television.
Adventure Time is one of the most philosophically risky and, often, emotionally affecting shows on TV. It's beautiful and funny and stupid and smart, in about equal parts, as well as willing to explore uneasy existential questions.
There are scary forces hovering in the details of Adventure Time, but even during the strangest, eccentric moments, it's never less than a welcoming experience.
