14 yrs ago, the 11-yr-old Barry Allen witnessed his mom being killed by a 'man in the yellow lightining' or now seen as the 'reverse flash'.And his dad being arrested without any assistance. Even when Barry Allen spoke to Joe and other inspector/detectives they did not believe his dad was innocent.Aged 25, Barry Allen is a slow and deliberate but a skilled forensic scientist with the Central City police. While working late one night, Allen is simultaneously stuck by lightning and doused with chemicals which grant him superhuman speed as well as creates the Speed Force (from where other speedsters gain their energy). Gaining the powers of his favorite comic book hero, the Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick (with whom he would come into contact and bring to our universe), Barry set out to use his new found abilities to fight crime in Central City, around the world and with the Justice League of America as the Flash! In the 1990 show, at first Barry wants to get rid of his new abilities and resume a normal life, but the death of his brother Jay Allen at the hands of murderous ex-cop Nicholas Pike prompts him to don a protective scarlet uniform and protect Central City as The Flash. As the Flash, Barry has the ability to run at speeds faster than sound, and can vibrate his molecules through solid objects. In order to maintain his incredibly high metabolism, he must consume enormous amounts of food. Allen has racked up a notorious set of super villains over his career. These knaves banded together to call themselves The Rogues whose ranks include Captain Cold, Mirror Master, the Trickster, Heatwave, the Weather Wizard, Captain Boomerang, Gorilla Grodd, the Top and Professor Zoom. However, thanks to the Flash, justice in Central City has never been more swift. Show less «
