What Are Action Movies And How Much We Enjoy?

An action movie is a kind of a film in which the main actor or rather the protagonist faces a series of challenges usually violence, frantic chases and extended fighting. It usually features a resourceful hero/ heroinetrying to overcome incredible odds in cases such as life-threatening circumstances. At times it might involve an evil villain chasing each other in different transportation modes (train, bus, ship, plane, or on foot) with victory attained finally after strenuous physical fights and extreme violence involving fist- fights and gunplays.

The genre is linked closely with the adventure and thriller film genres.Traditionally, action movies have been aimed at male audiences aged between 13-30 years. The Great Train Robbery (1903) is considered by some historians to be the first action film. In the West, during the 20s and 30s action films were  popularized by actors such as Errol Flynn and Douglas Fairbanks. The success of the James Bond series helped popularize the modern day action movies in more recent years.  During the 80s and 90s, the industry experienced a significant expansion with the invention of special effect techniques and increased demand by the jaded audiences for faster plots, stimulation and greater violence.

Most people enjoy stressful situations when they are completely in control of them. While watching an action movie you get excited and stressed but in the same time feel 100% safe since the movie will last only for a few hours. Action movies provide a healthy environment for stressful people. Whenever someone watches a movie, he usually identifies with the hero and feels relaxed and confident at the end. This is because the subconscious mind cannot differentiate between real and visualized experience. When the hero performs heroic acts, the subconscious mind makes you believe you are the one who actually did them.

Some of the best action movies include; Die Hard (1988) where John McClane (Bruce Willis), a New York City Policeman is visiting his family on Christmas Eve at a famous Japanese-owned restaurant where his wife works.
